Dr. Kyle Farrell is a consultant in the field of Urban Economics and International Development. He has held several appointments for the United Nations, including UN-Habitat in Nairobi, Kenya and UNIDO in New Delhi, India.

Since joining the Board as an inaugural member in 2015, Kyle has participated in Block by Block projects in Nairobi, Kosovo, Hanoi , and Kalobeyei. He was also part of the delegation that represented Block by Block at the Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Urban Development (Habitat III) in Quito, Ecuador. He currently serves as Chair of the Board and provides technical support to the Project Committee.

Kyle recently completed his Doctorate in Urban and Regional Studies at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he also taught a course on Challenges for Metropolitan Urban Regions. Between 2017 and 2018 Kyle was a visiting researcher and Associate of the Department of Economics at Harvard University. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the United Kingdom and Canada. Kyle enjoys traveling and has visited more than 50 countries.

There is a certain irony in the thought that the cities of tomorrow will be inhabited by today’s youth, but it is the younger generations that are most often left out of the decision-making processes. Block by Block offers an opportunity to change this.
