As Assistant General Counsel for Microsoft, Carl Brandt manages a team of attorneys and paralegals supporting the company’s gaming business. He has been with Microsoft since 2003, serving in a variety of leadership roles for patent strategies, patent licensing, and open source strategies. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer engineering and a law degree from the University of Arizona.

Carl has provided legal counsel for the Block by Block Foundation since 2015, and he has attended Block by Block events in Kosovo, Hanoi, Nairobi, and Kalobeyei. When at home in the Pacific Northwest, he enjoys the hiking trails and bike paths in the area’s many parks.
